Ratika Singh (b. 1991, India) is a visual artist working at the intersection of transformation, embodiment, and nature-based storytelling. Her practice incorporates photography, film, and poetry to explore the transformation of the self through the lens of the natural world, considering how place shapes emotional experience and how the Earth’s rhythms echo our own.
Central to her practice is an interest in the somatic possibilities of the image: how photographs can be experienced not only visually, but physically and emotionally. Through an ongoing study of perception, attention and embodied ways of seeing, Singh considers how images might influence us, regulate our pace, and shape the way we inhabit both our bodies and the spaces around us.
Drawing on years working in remote and elemental landscapes, from forests and oceans to high-altitude mountains and deserts, her work meditates on cycles of rupture and renewal, ecological intimacy, and the healing potential of nature and stillness. With a particular interest in the relationship between human and land, breath and light, her photographs dwell in the delicate space between presence and disappearance.
Singh’s work has been exhibited internationally, including at the Festival OFF Arles (Arles, France), Ephemere Photo Fest (Tokyo, Japan), the British Film Institute (London, UK), Kochi-Muziris Biennale (Kerala, India), The Reach Gallery Museum (BC, Canada), Obscura Festival (Penang, Malaysia), and IAWRT (New Delhi, India), among others.
